SITXFSA006 – Participate in Safe Food Handling Practices is a nationally recognised unit ideal for individuals working in kitchens, catering, food production, or any environment where food safety matters. It focuses on hazard control at all critical points—from receiving and storing food to preparation, serving, transport, and disposal.
Students complete written assessments online and demonstrate their practical food handling skills through a third-party observation in a workplace or volunteer setting. This includes confirmation from a manager, supervisor, or team leader, along with a brief video declaration.
It is recommended (but not required) that participants complete SITXFSA005 Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety first, as this course builds upon the foundational concepts introduced in that unit.
